Hidden in the mountains of southern Kasakhstan are the remains of Bayshansay, a former mining city from Soviet times. Now it is a ghost town, but in the valley, along a creek and surrounded by a post doomsday landscape and a lot of beautiful nature, some people are still living, not more than 40 by my estimation.
The old iron ore mine is no more working, but easy to access.

At the end of a side tunnel we found a huge cave with a subterranian lake inside. There was a strong echo inside and the water was crystal clear, but unfortunately unreachable deep below us.
Even with a wide angle lens it was actually impossible to take a really good photo of all that; this is the best one i could manage.
