"After rainfall and once the sun has gone down, the western desert comes to a dazzling bloom. This only happens once or twice a year and will cause incredible floods in the portions of the desert that are at a lower elevation, the waters oftentimes rising up and over 2 meters, creating massive temporary lakes. At the higher altitudes, the sand is covered with the crimson bloom of small vine like plants that otherwise grow slightly below the sands surface. Only when it rains does the sheer size of these plants become apparent as one can see these flowers for miles upon miles into the distance."
