Главная долгого полета - The Long Flight Home

VNUKOVO AIRPORT TERMINAL A; JANUARY 1, 1991 - Amidst the sound of the roaring aircraft, business carried on as usual at the familiar airport, but tonight was a little different. A new plane was present at the terminal, and one individual rushed her way through the busy airport for a special meetup. The newly imported Boeing-787 plane was painted with the familiar colors of the Russian flag, appearing unlike any of the former Soviet aircraft. This was reserved for the central government of Moscow. Dressed in a long black overcoat, she ran her way to the tarmac, trying her best to keep her balance on the wet paved roads. Snow blanketed the sky and the final flight of the night was ready to make its maiden voyage. She happened to catch the familiar faces of Mishya and Larissa boarding the plane ready for takeoff. With a great sprint, she ran up the stairs of the plane to give the two a hug. Trying not to cry, she held them close and wished them godspeed in their travels. They were greatly upset in leaving Karen behind, but this was an important trip to be made in establishing new diplomatic relations with the United States. And there was silence. She could only watch from a safe distance the plane rising towards the heavens and disappearing into the winter fog. Trying her best not to cry again, she bore a blank expression amidst walking back to the terminal. With a solid whisper, she uttered, "Lonely man, he thinks of you; he isn't done, only lives for you."

It's been a while since I had a pic of Karen in my gallery and I'm hoping to fix that for the New Year. Here's a wonderfully emotional picture of her at the airport during a cold winter night. In fact, I nearly cried upon drawing and finishing this picture because of how sad she looks here. Keeping with the whole aviation theme, I decided this was a good setting for her because of how emotionally driven her character is. The colors in this blend nicely and despite such a simple looking background, it still looks really good. I'm still surprised I managed to draw the coat of arms of Moscow so small on there and have it still be recognizeable. Here's to a Happy New Year and best wishes too.
