Those...ads! by Sparkyopteryx

Those...ads!

Sparkyopteryx

Loosely related to the recent fiasco regarding FA and those vulgar ads, but also just as an excuse to draw Oort with the most disgusted "do not want" face I can possibly manage. Sums up my reaction to said events and things on the internet in general.

I would have had this done a couple days earlier but the heat has gotten extreme enough that I can only comfortably work a few hours a day and not much on involved, not-silly pieces at that. Triple digits here already. Send help.

God, don't remind me. There's been reports of rape ads being displayed, and users getting their machines infected by malware. The community doesn't seem to be taking it too well.

C'mon. Don't you have any fond nostalgia for those seizure-inducing ads that flash, rumble, and rotate. The early 2000's were good times.

Surely you jest! It was around that time that I was first truly active on the internet but I'm not sure if "nostalgia" truly typifies the feeling. "Repressed memories" might be more appropriate...

    PS: Excelsior!

You know, I thought adblockers were much more common these days. Apparently not, since everyone was seeing these. (Ads? What ads?) :D

I actually do have Adblock on my browser, but when I started to see screencaps circulating when the uproar started in earnest I was curious to see just how bad they were and yeah...they're that bad.

    What has been seen
    Cannot be unseen

It has been this way since 2007 when I first joined FA I admit. The ads just happen to be in their own special caliber of awful.

These are utterly lewd and cross the line. http://i.imgur.com/2GGzPY2.png

You get that outta h-- actually that's pretty funny and gave me a giggle. The only good thing that came out of those ads was seeing the community making a mockery of the decision behind it by making fun parodies of them.

Still havent' seen any of them myself. And welcome to my world. Gonna be triple digits here for the next 2 months or longer I bet. Crap! melts

Like I said above, outside of seeing screencaps of them I haven't seen any yet myself (Adblock of course), although it seems to be a mixed bag with some: A few users got them with almost every page refresh, others see them almost never.

Agh, my sympathies! We get hot summers here pretty much every year but this is the first time I've seen temps like this in June. Can't imagine what it'll be like for the next couple months...
