As a kid, being a Peasant he has always dreamed of being a knight. But not being of noble blood (and being left-handed) pretty much shot that dream from ever coming true. So, at 15 he left his parents home (and took what money they had), got a chainmail shirt, a longsword and some rations and set out for adevnture in hopes of one day becoming a famous fighter...

Early in his adventures he got his paws on his now prize posession - a sinister blade (A vorpal sword) "Gelder's Edge". Once he saw the power it posessed, he started to obsess on finding more things to give him more power...

So, he's increased his inventory of won or stolen goods along the way (thus his updated armour and such) but it's come at a price. He's spent the last 18 years living a "by-any-means-necessary" life, and it's taken a toll on his body and personality. Now he's a bit ragged, worn, with a hint of madness in his eyes...

I am really, REALLY blown away by this pic.   misplacedspigot was able to perfectly capture how I envisioned Kain looking.
