he came into the shop, said what must have been "hello, good day," in his own language, and it is a language i've never heard spoken before. so, only after he left did i piece it together.

but how would you have handled a customer who cannot speak any other language?

i work the eastern equivalent of a curios shop. so, i turned that around to focus more on western things. i think it works without being too direct. also, yes. i have seen some pretty... fashionable customers.
