"When one door closes another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us."
-Alexander Graham Bell

It's fun to do graphite portraits and caricatures, and this time it's Emma, from Kaoru Mori's "Victorian Romance Emma"! For those of you out there that enjoy period pieces but haven't found many anime/manga with that same period drama style story, then this is the series for you. There may be other historically accurate anime, true, but "Black Butler" isn't something you watch for historical accuracy...

This is a similar style to how I used to do caricature-y portraits at the art gallery I work at. I went around the interwebs looking for various features to help finalize her face design - straight out of old Victorian Era photography. Plus it's refreshing to work entirely in graphite like I used too.

I suggest you listen to the "Merry Widow Waltz" to get the same feeling I had when drawing this.

Materials:
-Graphite Pencil (2H)
-Mechanical Pencil; Graphite (0.5)
-Photoshop (background clean-up)
