Meet Tess! Tess was once a shy and ordinary feline. Then, one day, a greedy monarch picked her at random to use as a sacrifice in a spell intended to grant infinite wealth. The spell did indeed cause treasure to fill the chest, but rather than kill Tess, it bound her to the treasure. It granted her immense strength and long life, but she can no longer leave the chest.

She killed the king who cast the spell immediately - not knowing her new found strength, she snapped his neck when he tried to pull her out of the box. The guards with him fled, and Tess was left alone. At first, the solitude was difficult, but eventually she grew to enjoy it, finding value in her own company and thoughts. She stopped thinking of the chest as a prison and began to view it as a sanctuary, adopting her new role as guardian of the treasure she is bound to. The treasure is, in fact, infinite; if any is removed, the space refills.

Tess is a predator; her main diet consists of animals that wander through the ruins and the occasional adventurer who comes by after hearing the legends about a never ending supply of treasure. She loves teasing her intended prey, taunting them closer with promises of wealth everlasting. The spell that binds her to the chest has altered her metabolism, as well; she does not have to eat often, and though she does eventually get hungry, she does not seem to be capable of starving to death.

Tess is pansexual, and though she's happy with her new life, she does still crave company when she can get it, including company of the physical variety. She is very flirty, and will dally with just about anyone willing to climb into her box with her, though anyone who jumps straight in at her invitation is likely to be making a trip to her belly afterward. If you take some time to talk to her first, though, and get to know her a little, there's a good chance she'll send you off with well-wishes and a handful of gold coins.
