because I couldn't resist making a cyberpunk character with a katana, and a quick little piece to show her off.
(I know she's drawing it one-handed, she just looks more nonchalant this way)
For this, it was basically like drawing armor. I drew the panels, while keeping in mind how they'd need to move and separate to provide the most mobility (also with a bunch of superfluous gaps and lines that pretty much just exist to make it look cooler).
Inspiration and reference comes from a lot of places, like robot/armor designs in fiction, particularly stuff like the more complex Gundam models.
