Hmm, they would likely have preferences for certain rocks depending on where they live. They probably wouldn't be able to dissolve harder metals. Maybe some gemstones, but I'm not sure. It would mostly depend on whether or not the metal or gem had minerals that plants use.

I really like the regurgitation detail! It's an efficient solution for a species with no other way to expel waste, to still have an emergency exit! I love the rock-eating as well.... it sounds like it'd feel so satisfying to feel the rocks dissolve in the mouth into the gritty constituent parts. I wonder if individuals would have personal preferences for types of rocks or stones, or where gemstones or metals would sit on the palate... and if some very hard gems would be possible to dissolve too, or if there's a limit (like a scientist trying to give one a diamond)
