Few things feel like home more than a warm kitchen and those things within it: The familiar trinkets and collections on shelves and cabinets; The head-filling scent of raw ingredients; the gentle tick of heating oven metal; The subtle whistle of that one leftward window that doesn't shut all the way against those chill, northerly winds outside...

And of course, one's own mother chasing hir itch to kick a season off with hir own spin on pineapple upside-down cake. Stepping into that warmly-lit kitchen on another day of coming to the old cabin homestead to visit and seeing hir familiar, matronly face already at work with a mixing bowl. Your own kids may be at play in the rustic living room through the door, but hir smile upon seeing you enter stirrs those lost memories to the fore when you were even younger than your own kits, and the world was much simpler.

You know full well your answer when shi asks if you'd like the bowl when shi's done. There's only ever been one choice.

A small gift sketch for an old, dear friend, and my in-character mom. Winter's a big woman with but a few needs and with hir own rich history, and yet, shi enjoys just being around hir homestead with projects, books, and making hot pots of stew on those ever-cold mountainous days. Fitting for an arctic fox of suitable curve and fluffiness.
