Don't you think the "heart shape" is kind of weird? It doesn't really resemble the heart organ that much.

Some archaeologists believe that there used to be a plant growing in north Africa that bore fruit in this shape. This plant, Silphium, was harvested by early human civilizations to extinction. The reason why there was so much demand for it was that it was a natural abortifacient; Women that ate them would find their uterus flushing out anything growing in there. So, men would pay absurd prices for these, so they could give these to women they wanted, and the women in turn would eat them, and then they'd go have awesome consequence-free sex. If all this is true, it's easy to see how this shape became so closely tied to expressing love and desire.

So think about that, the next time you see a sign that says "I ♥ My Children" or "Jesus ♥'s You" or something like that.

Anyway, here's a quick drawing of Blackheart.
