The desperate, pleading mewls of her hooded captive were a joyous chorale for the Directrix.

"Hnwgghf..."

Smug, self-assured, and supremely satisfied, she patted her hooded, helpless helot twice on the cheek.

"Very good," said the Directrix. "Cheer up. You're worth enough to feel my whip, my boot, and my lips. Few have that pleasure."

She smiled, humming to herself as her captive huffed. Putting on her coat with all the time in the world, she turned away. Her mind had wandered. There were other captives, filthy rebels elsewhere that needed subduing.

The open window let air into her fortress. She loved the way itmade her cape dramatically flow for all to see.
