I do a lot of alternate history, but sometimes I find something more random that looks interestingly enough to work on.

In an alternate timeline, Israel would never receive equipment from the USSR under Stalin's rule, but Egypt would still be armed with Russian equipment, so one idea would be a raid on an Egyptian air base, steal a large number of Soviet planes, hand some over to the United States for study, and press the rest into reserve service.
