Ancient Ice by Meg James

Ancient Ice

(Commission info!)

So uh, all my dragon characters pretty much have humanoid forms, but I thought holy gosh why do they all look so human?? If dragons evolved with this awesome magic transformation mimicry ability, surely not every species or regional population would have developed it to turn into humans to get along with humans, specifically, I mean there are other fantasy races out here

Reinhilda, who inhabits the cold glacial northlands, is of a species that probably has had to coexist with local dwarf populations for millennia. Her non-dragon form has a few dragon features, but she is decidedly dwarf-looking to blend in better with locals. (I'm sorry if you especially liked the sweet friendly grandma design, I promise she's still nice)

Her magic element is water, but she doesn't use it much in its liquid form. She forges a superdense ice shield as her favorite "weapon" (she's tanky but LOVES shield-bashing opponents) and can use a variety of ice weapons in her offhand.

(also bearded dwarf ladies are the coolest, I mean really)
