Welcome to the Family

Megan Bryar

Okay, so this is a picture that has been swirling around in my head pretty much since Deborah and Molly started dating. So it's a little out of sequence at this point, as I imagined it taking place just after they became a couple. But I still think it's really cute and an important event that deserved to be documented. It's also a nice way to show Megan and Deborah together to show that they really are to different people.

Story!

Then there was the day that Megan met Molly. The day her elder daughter Deborah moved out and took over Ciara's old house, at the new queen's request, Megan promised she would come to visit now and then. Not too often, of course, since it was important for Deborah to find her own way in life. After about a month, though, Megan decided it was time to drop in and see how her kitten was faring. She packed a couple of bottles of wine and some of Deborah's favorite treats and set off for the city.

It took the best part of the morning to walk from Megan's house to Deborah's new place in the city, but the day was bright and warm, and Megan arrived in high spirits. These were raised even higher by a fresh coat of paint on the house and the scent of something sweet baking in the large oven built next to the house. Putting on her best, most motherly smile, she knocked on the door.

To her surprise, it wasn't Deborah who answered. Rather, the door was opened by a very pretty young rabbit/wolf hybrid with red hair and mischief twinkling in her bright green eyes. In truth, Megan had met Molly many times before, mostly while visiting with Molly's mother Liane. But this was the first time she'd met the girl after she'd started dating Deborah. As Molly's expression down-shifted to a look of confusion, Megan stepped into the house and laid her gifts on the closest table. She couldn't help but notice, as she did so, the various intimate articles of clothing scattered on the floor, and that the windows needed washing.

"We, uh, we weren't expecting guests today. The house is kind of a wreck," Molly said.

"So I see. I don't know where Deborah got her house-keeping skills, but that's one more reason why you girls need a mother's touch now and then. I also brought you some gifts," Megan said.

Molly pulled the towel off the top of the basket of goodies and pulled out one of the bottles of wine. She pulled the cork out with her claws and took a sniff.

"It's good stuff. I made it myself," Megan said.

"I'll take your word for it. I've never had any before," Molly said.

She put the wine back down on the table, and turned back toward the kitchen.

"Hey, Deb, you better get out here. We've got company," she said.

Megan cocked a curious ear and couldn't quite manage to squelch the grin the crept over her muzzle.

"Deb? She never let me call her anything but Deborah, you know."

"Girlfriends get special privileges," Deborah said, as she emerged from the kitchen. She gave Megan a hug and a kiss on the cheek, then stepped back and put one arm around Molly's waist.

"You should have let us know you were coming. I'd have had more to feed you than just some bread and cheese," Deborah said.

"And put you to all that trouble? I just came to see my little girl, and the beauty who stole you away," Megan said.

Taking one of Molly's hands in her own, Megan bent over and, with a playful grin, kissed the girl's hand.

"You're part of the family, now," she said.

"May the Mother of All have mercy on you," Deborah said.

Oh, what a family to end up in, LOL. :)

I'd say she's in for quite a ride, but considering who her mother is I'm not sure it would be too different from what she's already used to.
