These are the final (color pattern) designs for Siri and Cain, with Cain being the black wolf on the left and Siri the white one on the right. I tried to make their designs a little more interesting than the usual plain colors; Cainis in particular is inspired by the black-gray-and-white wolf from the stop-motion "Peter and the Wolf" short. The two dimensional style is a test for prologues, flashbacks, and other quick storytelling needs in the comic concept. Not totally happy with it for that purpose, but still interesting.

Making simplified flat designs is actually very challenging, although it looks simple. You have to be able to pick out exactly and only the elements required to identify subjects correctly, all the while trying to be decorative in the shapes you are making.
