for anyone wondering why gaster’s followers (aka the grey npcs) are crying too, i like to imagine that they have this emotional link with him. so, whatever emotion he’s feeling at any given moment (if it’s particularly intense) then they’ll feel it too. this is based on my assumption that gaster created them somehow (either because he was lonely, or to help make his presence known, or both) so it would make sense if they shared some kind of connection with him
