Lizzie On A Skull - old art

Lachland-Nightingale

One of the five pieces i showed at ConFurence V (Jan 21-23 '94)

The earliest anthro characters i did as a kid/teen were cats, mice, and rats...
But around '72 or so i wrote a prose story about one of the last Humans on earth... (Planet Of The Apes/Kirby's Kammandi inspired) part of that story involved a lizard people...

Later on other lizard people in different universes, styles etc arose...
Influenced by Vaughn Bode, Roger Dean, etc...

There was no "Furry" or "Anthropomorphic" fandom back when i was doing this stuff - Just a few artists doing this sort of thing occasionally in the larger context of fantasy and science-fiction art...

Drawing - Jan '82 - Colour - late '93

"Furries" in '94 had no interest in what would latter be called "Scalies", -
the whole dragon thingy was just a murmur as i recall...

Didn't get a single bid. Which was good. i got to keep it.

This is, in a sense, an ancestor of my pic "Autumn" - the skull, grass, flowers, butterflies blooming. The Lizzie here holds a weapon that says
"Let the past go, it's gone..." The butterflies of Psyche are then free -
(Ref to Greco-Roman myth as used by Vaughn Bode wiff his Lizzrds)...

i went back to original scans for this posting to make it larger/nicer than the one posted at FA.
