So, my latest random experiment in wood! This one is again poplar, playing with all of the new techniques, along with a slightly new design. Trying to go for a bit heavier disk this time, thinking to perhaps overcome the instability I've been getting with the poplar tops by simply adding more mass down low. Seems to have worked as well, this one spins quite smoothly. Overall I like the design, and using just a little bit of the spiral without trying to cut too deep didn't cause the chipping I'd experienced earlier. I'm definitely going to have to pursue this experimental design farther!

I'll have to shoot a better photo of this one later, the lighting is really kind of crap without the sun out, and I was a bit too lazy to unpack my 7D and the strobe for a snapshot. This is the first of two shots, trying to show the proportions decently.
