Spinosaurus has been traditionally depicted as a biped, but suggestions of quadrupedalism have been proposed since the 1970s. In 2014, a paper describing new material of Spinosaurus suggested that its legs were too short to move effectively on land. The paper however, was based on two differently sized individuals, and many have criticized the assumed proportions. Spinosaurus forearms also show no evidence of any weight-bearing adaptations, and dinosaurs also had large air sacs throughout their body like birds, making them much lighter than they might appear. With current evidence, bipedal Spinosaurus living a semi-aquatic lifestyle seems most likely.
