OCEAN MACHINES (critique requested)

*I’ve found a way through the Ocean Machines. *

When it is time, we will know what it means.

Life finds a way and that always will be!

When it is time, we will see what we’ll see!

oh my fucking god this painting took FOREVER to do.

I started this like… more than a month ago. it’s finally done now. Did it in FireAlpaca too, which is not a software I usually use for big-ass paintings of this scale

Anyway this was initially inspired by listening to Devin Townsend’s “Ocean Machines” demo from his “Ass-Sordid demos 1990-1996″ album and from the overall feel of his “Ocean Machine: BIOMECH” album and by looking at some of the landscape paintings Roger Dean did, though it probably doesn’t look very much like any of them

It’s also based on a bunch of ideas I had for the setting that Sego and Doggy presumably inhabit.

Sego has recurring dreams about a gargantuan machine that lurks beneath the ocean, which give him a strong urge to locate this machine and to navigate through it. Doggy is along for the ride because she loves exploring shit and looting shit.

if you’re wondering what those things above Sego and Doggy’s heads are, those are their names rendered in Urdu script (no, not translated).
