Panic

I would really love to hear, people's interpretation of this. It can be any thing. What do you see? Its okay to see many things, that's the point. Its what you see. But I did draw it for a reason...

The title of this piece is called “Panic.”This drawing was inspired by a panic attack and each shape and piece is a manifestation of what a panic attack is to me. Starting in the middle, a river like shape is depicted. The red sides of the “river” are representative of blood, which I can feel pump fiercely though my veins when I am having an attack. The blue is the color I associate with the pressure that builds up in my chest and legs as adrenaline takes over. This takes us to the right upper corner of the drawing where a blue oval shape is displayed. This is an abstract depiction of the muscles in the calf of my legs which feels like it swells and becomes heavy with anxiety during the peak of an attack. Looking down at the lightning shaped, bulky scribble we see a depiction of a thought that is jumbled with highs and lows as it tries to get processed though the other chaos that is surrounding it. This “squiggle” forms the mouth piece which connects back to the blue oval making an abstract monster when looked at cockeyed. This monster has a thick black sludge that is pouring like tears from its eyes. The black sludge is what I envision stress and tension to look like if it could freely flow out of my body. Looking back at the “river” we see that this same sludge has also begun to mix into the veins. Going back once again to the right hand side, we also see that the bottom of the image is lined with spines closing the image in further, while the white background gives an uneasy feeling and need for color and shape to push back against the blankness that is sinking in. From the top a yellow liquid is pouring from multiple locations in the frame. This liquid is another form of the sludge; a sickly bile. This bile will slowly fill in the open space and drown the monster. By contrast, when we look to the far left there is nothing but snow; falling in darkness. A symbol of stillness and peace, but up at the top right, we painfully see that the yellow bile has already begun to invade this peaceful place with jagged invasion.
