This picture was originally posted to Ekaki•No•Mi's Facebook page a week ago, on September 18th, which also happened to be the 54th anniversary of a fantastic happening--one in which a gorgeous-but-mischievous genie (named Jeannie, what else?) was released from a bottle and granted three wishes for the NBC net-work -- to give pop culture its first female genie, to leave a lasting impression on the fantasy sit-com genre...and to create solid competition for rival net-work ABC's sit-com, Bewitched!
She also granted unlimited wishes for her on-screen master (and later husband), astronaut Major Tony Nelson, who sometimes thinks that more than three wishes can be a bit too much...(just look at him floating around on the right there!)
Starring Barbara Eden (Jeannie), Larry Hagman (Tony), Bill Daily (Tony's best friend and fellow astronaut Roger Healey) (R.I.P. 😢) and Hayden Rorke (NASA psychiatrist Dr. Alfred Bellows), I Dream Of Jeannie is full of fun, fantasy, lots of laughs, and dazzling special effects (at least they were for the time it was made: 1965-1969)!
This picture is a deluxe traditional (meaning it was drawn on paper and colored with both markers and pencils), and drawn in the cartoon style used in the opening theme, which I will post in the comments section, except I designed the characters to look a little more like their live-action counter-parts.
I hope you like it!
