When I was in college I saw a series of paintings by Coles Phillips, using something called the Fadeaway technique. It looked like he had taken a detailed pin up of a woman and painted over her clothing with a solid color to blend it into the (also solid) background. It was very graphical and I loved it.

So here is the first in a future series where I'll be exploring the fadeaway technique... with cats.
