the bear and the fox

cynoglav

...yup, I did it.
XD
This was a quick one (the quick brown fox... god no stahp pls) - just in time for Valentines, I guess? (NOT ON WEASYL LOL) I don't really celebrate it, so.
I didn't follow my usual procedure of first doing the linework and then coloring it in. Instead I, obviously, colored and shaded the image in first, and did my inks last. It was a fun experience! I'm not saying I'm going to do this every time from now on, but it was fun.

I'm not a traditional watercolor artist by any means (how dare you use ink?! WHITE INK AT THAT?!) and so as you've probably noticed, I added a bit of shimmering watercolor over the blue in the background. What does it mean, what does it mean, kyno? you might ask. Well... that's up to you! As is the interpretation of the piece as a whole, really. I wanted to have fun here, okay? I guess it could be water, but why would the bear be sleeping in a stream - I'm not entirely sure lol
But hey, that might be the reason why the fox is trying to wake it up!

Anyhoo, you can see a video of the shimmer on my instagram, @ cynoglav - check it out. It's really cool :p

EDIT I JUST NOTICED WE'RE BACK AT THE TEAL THING AGAIN

materials: dip pen, white ink, black drafting ink, watercolor, iridescent/metallic watercolor, masking fluid, 250 GSM paper.
