Deepwater Waders (critique requested)

Celesol

Their people are known as the Deepwater Waders of the Drowned Woods. Their makeshift bird feet keep them out of the water, and protect them from the rocks and leeches bellow. The scaled feet seem to be some sort of magical enchantment made from woven wicker - the same material their wide-brimmed hats are made from, devised to keep the mist-soaked pines from dripping water into their eyes.

Their diet consists of algae, the overgrown fish and eels that dwell in the tree roots, and pine needle tea. They craft their houses from pine and wicker, building the structures on stilts to keep out the water. Their houses have to be rebuilt or repaired every few years due to water damage and rot, so they keep them simple for easy reconstruction.

This way of life harshly punishes hoarding behavior, and instead their culture has a 'take only what you need' mentality that permeates every aspect of their life.

I'm so happy with the way the colour scheme turned out on this one! I feel like I'm finally starting to get out of my recent trend of hating everything I paint. :3
