The Explorers of What Remains by Caelan

The Explorers of What Remains

Caelan

A commission for a couple of my friends, of their post-apocalyptic characters scavenging through a desolated city being reclaimed by nature. This one was a long time in the making-- but I thoroughly enjoyed the process and getting to work with these characters, and I'm so pleased with the result!

Very cool atmosphere here! I love all the details you put into the characters and scenery.

Thank you! It's not often I get such a high detail commission, so getting to really go all-out with this illustration was a treat for me to develop.

Do you use here perspective rulers?

I did, though the tower and the rest of the city are on different vanishing points, since there's no reason for a tower on a hill to be on the exact same grid. My blog post here shows the program I used to do so: http://www.sasharjones.com/blog/2016/1/22/my-3-unfortunately-secret-programs-for-illustrators

Ah, that's where I found it! Thank you for that post! I tried that Carapace, but yeah - fuss with shortcuts are terrible x_x In free SpeedyPainter perspective rulers are good for me. But greatest in Manga Studio o_o
