SO JUST he's basically DOS' main worker that works with him, and updates him etc which often involves removing sensitive parts of him to fiddle and tinker with, thus gloves and goggles

he works on the same floor in the same lab as vance "royce" the hacker, who plays dumb and this dude thinks hes just a wannabe nerd basically though vance only wants to get close to him so he'll have access to DOS !! the plot thickens
