This commission is for Petrichor Squirrel, depicting an aspirational version of himself meditating within a dark cave and quoting buddhist precepts.
Because this image is so personal, I would like to include a statement from Petrichor.
I think it's important to mention that I do not consider myself an arhat (at least not yet!). Very much still a work in progress. There is the distinction between Petrichor Squirrel the fursona, who is an inspirational figure and a Yidam (personal meditation deity), and the real imperfect human being who created him.
I have met a few people who could defensibly claim the title of arhat, I have studied the concepts, and I have walked far enough on the spiritual path to extrapolate upon my own accomplishments to the mind of the arhat; which is why I felt it appropriate to commission this piece.
The suttas enumerate even more powers of arhats that are a little harder to believe, such as being able to dive into the earth and swim around under it as if it were water, however the ones I have listed here are the ones that are directly grounded in my experience.
