They're Christmas lights! I based this on a piece from '05, and my teenage mind thought it was a swell idea at the time :B

I really like the subtle distortion of the halo around the character's head.

It's meant to be a sun dog of some kind - I had a brief obsession with optical phenomena back in the day.

So beautiful and calm. Nice composition too. The tiny flashes of color on the character's necklace were a nice touch as well.
