A commission for Arcnova! I took this commission back when I first started doing digital art on a regular basis, and since then have really hones my skills. There are still a few things about this that are indicative of a drawing style from years ago, but I think it updated rather well. I was able to use more matte painting in this one, which really helped me get the background I wanted out of this. Thanks to Arcnova for his endless patience and kindness, this one was so much fun!

I agree with dragondust, putting it closer to the ground also gives the dragon a much larger appearance, something that often lacks when people draw dragons
This is gorgeous. The lighting/shading and the texturing are wonderful. And the perspective is plain awesome it greatly enhances the difference in size between these two. There's surely a big heap of time invested in it.
It would be interesting to hear the story behind this picture.
Those scales are incredibly detailed, it gives the dragon a really appropriate reptilian look. Love the background/atmosphere and color scheme here as well! I can only imagine the time that must have gone into this.

Absolutely love this adorable piece, your color and lighting work are fantastic, and your choice of expressions and the dragon's pose with their tail curling around and the wings held horizontal overhead to give a 'sheltering' feeling make this a very cute scene. Your detail of their skin and how the light plays off it subtly is awesome to see even in the shaded areas like the neck area, the fronts of the limbs, and the glinting off of the armor and weapon housings is a nice touch! To me that says something about how it's kept in good condition, and I have to say that armor and weapon set looks really, really cool x3
Also really like the perspective, helps even more to give a good sense of the size difference between these two!

I love that you put the eye level closer to the ground. It made a relatively calm scene that much more dynamic. :)
